Atlasloot Enchanced- This is an extremely helpful addon, especially if you have some downtime and are looking for upgrades to your gear, or what drops are available from a raid/dungeon you are about to enter or are in the middle of. Basically it has a menu that allows you to select the type of raid/dungeon, out of wrath of the lich king raids/dungeons, burning crusade, and vanilla wow. You can then select from a submenu what raid/dungeon you are interested in, say icecrown citadel, there will be a third menu that has every boss in that instance, ans well as an option for trash mobs. Once you select a boss it will automatically set it to the lowest difficulty for that instance, say 10 man regular for a wrath of the lich king raid, and from there you can select the difficulty of the boss you want to see the loot from. It will then tell you every piece of gear and every item that the boss drops and what the percentage that it will drop. This will allow you to see what potential items you can get from a raid, or help a friend answer a question on drop rate percentage etc.
Auctionator- I’ve just recently got this addon, it’s extremely similar to auctioneer which I’m sure you’ve used before, except for it is much much smaller in size and therefore won’t hog down your gear as much as auctioneer will. There’s not much to say about this one, it helps monitor and create your auctions that will help you make a lot of money.
Bartender4- I love this addon, and it was one of the first ones I acquired, it’s relatively simple, it allows you to move your actionbars anywhere you want to and configure them, but it’s a lot nicer then you could just imagine, you could literally have all of the buttons you use for your class in one tiny box and this will make it a lot easier for spamming since you don’t have to drag your mouse quite as far (if you’re a mouse user like me that is).
Baudbag- This is pretty simple, mainly just convenience, it’s primary use is to combine all your bags into one and allow you to search your bags, which is very nice if you have a large amount of bag space but they’re pretty much full and you need to find one item really quickly.
Deadly Boss Mods- This is a very complex addon, it will notify you during raid/dungeon boss fights of upcoming events, spells, enrage timers etc; and will give approximate timers of when the cooldowns of their spells will be up. This addon has a few other features too, like a little health bar of bosses that can help monitor how far into the boss fight you are if you don’t use a unit frame addon like me, and don’t look up to often to see their health bar at the top, and a moveable timer bar that will tell you exactly how long until a spell is cast (frostbolt from kel’thuzad for example).
FuBar- This one’s a little odd, similar to titanbar if you’ve ever used it before but slightly different, it gives a small bar at the top of your screen that you can use to put plug-ins on for multiple things. I use the following plug-ins: guild, durability, and atlasloot. These let me see who’s on in my guild at the time, where they are etc, see what percentage of durability your gear is at, and how much it will cost to repair it depending on your reputation with the blacksmith, and finally a little button that will open atlasloot so that I don’t have to type /atlasloot to see loot tables for an instance which can be quite annoying, and having a single button can be much easier.
Gearscore- This is probably the worst addon ever invented but it’s now necessary if you don’t want to be seen as a noob to people. It gives you a number that you can use to judge people’s gear (and somehow their experience and ability in a raid) by adding up item levels and using a small algorithm. I understand why it could be helpful to see if someone was geared enough for your raid, but the draw backs outweigh the advantages 100 times over, because people now go solely on gearscore instead of seeing how good a person is in raids and going off a positive or negative reputation that they slowly build. My gearscore isn’t the highest, sitting around 3k (wow-heroes not addon), but I pull top dps 8 times out of 10 and people are getting to the point where they know that so they will let me into just about any group even if I’m not quite to the gear they’re looking for, for their group.
Grid- I love this addon, it replaces your party and raid frames with a small grid shape that you can use to easily monitor who’s alive in your group, and what percentage their health is at, as well as keeping a small area instead of making half of your screen cluttered with 25 boxes with health and mana.
Mik’s Scrolling Battle Text- This will replace the text that typically appears when you do damage, heal, get healed, etc, and will also allow you to monitor any procs you can get. Most importantly, it allows you to designate where it goes so it’s much less cluttered.
Prat 3.0- This is a small chat modifying addon that will allow you to see what class people are by changing the color of their name, red for death knights for example, as well as being able to copy paste things from your chat which is extremely helpful, especially for Ventrilo information you may receive from a party member so you don’t have to alt tab multiple times.
Recount- This is pretty obvious, while there are some more obscure features, like graphing your’s and your party members’ latency, most importantly it’s a damage per second monitoring addon, that can tell you what dps you’re pulling and who has the highest total damage done, these are the most common uses for this addon atleast, and it’s extremely popular and useful.
TipTac- Lastly for this list is tiptac, it allows you to move where your tooltip pops up and will allow you to see peoples talents builds via tooltip, which is useful in determining people specs when looking for people for a group, and keeping your tooltip out of the way when you’re playing, such as spell tooltips not covering up half of the screen in the middle of the screen.
