Full 3DS Reaction

I finally got my hands on a Nintendo 3DS and if you read my previous post I was very excited to play one and I was very optimistic that this would exceed expectations. My hopes were that it would exceed previous 3d systems and Nintendo handhelds.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case. To put it bluntly I was not only disappointed with its performance, but actually extremely angry that after all the wait for a truly new platform from nintendo, all we get was this. I realized shortly after starting playing that if you weren't in exactly the correct position, that you could hardly see the screen. After a while of playing I actually started to realize that my eyes were physically hurting, and after a good half hour of playing they were burning and dried out. On top of this, there wasn't really anything that made me want to keep playing, like other 3d consoles like this where eye pains were also common.

The main culprit for this? The horribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee game selection. While I was slightly optimistic about the lack of launch titles for this new device, when I played what games there were, to put it bluntly not only was I disappointed, at times I was down-right sickened. Let's take for example Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition.

While this series is iconic in its legacy and ability to practically sell itself on its name alone, unlike the original SF IV for other platforms, this was just bad. While you are playing the controls aren't really that responsive, but after you play for a while you get the adjusted timing down right and you are able to play pretty well. However, on the bottom screen there is a small box containing all of your combo moves that I figured that you could push after you did said combo; which is the case for the two "ultimate" combos that each character has. So, being my first time playing this new SF game, I decided that I was going to play as Ryu, (of course, I mean, who doesn't start as him???) I was playing along and I realized that my hadouken was lit at the bottom and I clicked it, releasing everyone's favorite move from the series, and correlating scream.
However, I realized that I double tapped the button and I unleashed two hadouken, I then preceded to spam it and realized that you can now do the basic combo finishers whenever you want, something that not only greatly displeased me, but really made me mad.

I had similar reactions to just about every game I played on this system, and I hope that if there are other games that are decently, that they quickly come out with them and they are much much better, or else I fear that this handheld will soon die like so many others before it.
